Caemba: Emergency Bamboo Houses

Through bamboo houses we build dreams, dignity and hope.

Our efforts are aimed at providing decent homes to low-income families and those in vulnerable situations thereby giving them the opportunity to grow and prosper.

Vision

To be an organization of international scope; to be recognized as a leader in the development of creative construction methodologies using local resources, skills and knowledge; to mitigate loss of housing and community infrastructure due to natural disasters and poverty.

Mission

Improve the quality of life of populations affected by natural disasters and conditions of poverty, through sustainable, creative and innovative solutions for the construction of housing and community infrastructure in order to raise local well-being and capabilities.

Our Team

Our team and the sum of their talents allows us to carry out our work effectively, transparently and quickly. Each member is fully dedicated to our cause and therein lies the basis of the successful work of our foundation.

CAEMBA is a project of Fundación Raíz Ecuador

Your donations help to support vulnerable communities in Ecuador, including those affected by the 2016 earthquake, COVID pandemia and extreme poverty.

We work with communities to support and improve opportunities for vulnerable groups, children and women. Our efforts focus on the construction of houses for the most vulnerable and of schools in areas marginalized or abandoned by the authorities, and the creation of entrepreneurship centers where women are trained and empowered to create small businesses so that they are able to support their families.

Bamboo Houses

Living in decent, safe homes gives families the support and security needed to thrive. This improves the quality of life as well as the physical and emotional health of those inhabiting such dwellings.

Community and Women's Entrepreneurship Centers

The goal of these centers is to train and empower women who are often leaders of their families so they can achieve financial independence. Via courses in tailoring, cosmetology, hairdressing and more, women acquire skills to start their own businesses so they can support their families and break the cycle of poverty.

Community centers

We firmly believe that education is the best tool to achieve the advancement of people and society. Children of low-income families must receive adequate education and training in order to develop fully and escape the cycle of poverty into which they are born.

OUR HISTORY

How CAEMBA Was Born

The earthquake of April 16 of 2016 on the Ecuadorian coast left thousands of peasant and urban-rural families homeless and forced to seek shelter from rain, nighttime cold  and insects.

We began to help immediately. We thought that the best thing we could do was to assist by building inexpensive housing very quickly.

All of CAEMBA's work is done thanks to private donations.

Our work has been possible thanks to the donations of many individuals and organizations. 100% of these donations are used for construction and development of housing for the most vulnerable and destitute.

Our field work takes place locally and with families and people that most urgently require our help. Working with people from communities benefited  ensures the success of our mission.

VOLUNTEERING

The objective of Caemba is to involve more people in the construction of the emergent bamboo houses in the most disadvantaged areas of Ecuador. Therefore, we invite all those who wish to join the goal of eradicating precarious housing in Ecuador.

For this we have developed two volunteer packages for those who decide to join and get to know Caemba’s work, mainly on the farm in Santo Domingo and in Esmeraldas and Manabí.
